Rocky Roads in Life

There will always be rocks
In our pathway 
Through our joyney 
However it is up to us
Whether those rocks
Make us stumble 
Or fall 
Or learned to walk
Learn to create
A new vision 
Of what the world
Is to be with
All the pebbles
Becoming a world
For all of us 
To thrive and be alive

Somehow we met
You were walking
Out of the hospital 
Almost running 
A joyous smile
Swept across 
Your face
I was a bit
Frightful 
As surgery 
Was my mission 
You just smiled
And said hi
My nerves 
Seemed to 
Fade away
I looked at you
And saw someone 
Who was hurting 
But instead of
Dwelling
You were 
Excited 
Joyful 
In that moment 
And that was
The start
Of a short lived
Friendship 
For you died
Only a few years
Later
Bye bye bye
30 years ago
This December 
I miss your smile

Gratitude

I am grateful for friends and family who care and share and inspire. 
I am grateful for those who protect our freedoms.
I am grateful for those who serve the world and make the world better.
I am grateful for the artists and writers who have courage to portray the visions into reality. 
I am grateful for compassion and hope.
May the essence of gratitude fill our hearts and minds with love and light to spread throughout the world.

Finding A Path

In finding our own way:

Each of us has lived lives differently.

Even twins have differences.

Our paths may connect on so many levels,

but our own path is ours alone.

It is wonderful to find others

to connect with along the way.

Those connections make life worth living.

This poem is in response to a post of two photos taken by a friend. ..one photo is of a calm lake with clouds over the sun, the other photo is of a lake with ripples in it and the sun is clearly visible.

Two Views Become One

Sitting by the lake
I gaze out to see
What the view is
Clouds wave
Up in the air
With calm waters
Wishing the clouds
To disburse
I close my eyes
And whosh
The wind blows
Opening my eyes
I see the gentle
Waters gone
The clouds swept away
Sun is shining brightly
And ripples
Where calm was
In my waters

And so is life
Until we find
That each moment
Is a blessing
Unto itself
Finding joy
And sharing
To make this world
Better for all
Who dwell here
Together we can

To make a note
Who is the one
Who speaks for all
All who are represented

Nor for what others
May force upon them to do
The people matter
Not just a few
For each are
Of the people
So we vote by the people
For the one person

Feeling my breath
Enter into my mouth
And into my nose
Every pore of my body
In touch with each cell
Refreshing the mind
Healing my soul
Deep down
All the way
To the ground

Placing toe

Ball down
Heel down
Ready to
Begin
Again
Toe
Ball
Heel

Breathing
Each step
Into motion
Connecting
To the earth
Fluid waves
Coarse through
The veins
Releasing joy
In every step

Sitting and watching

On the porch

The day drifts by

Specks of water

Drop from the sky

First in sparse drips

Making small puddles

And then ripples

Do appear to form

Making waves

Upon waves

Interlocking

Impacting

Each other

One touching

Another

Letting each join in

Allowing for growth

Developing hope

Refreshing the soul

I am alive

I am well

Come and join me

Living as one

In the ocean

On this earth

One among many
