for drummer boy

balloons are popped…
drums are fading…
into the mist…
as they follow…
a dear friend…
as he will be missed…
always one with words…
to encourage, sometimes…
bluntly as to get…
our heads in gear…
truly a friend…
even in the end…
goodbye my friend…
safe journey to your…
new destination…
may the music follow…
you…
drummer boy.

The Rustling in the Bushes

Went out to check mail…
Heard a bit of a rustling…
Inside the rose bushes…
Hesitated to see what…
Could it be…soon, it…
Moved beyond where I stood…
Soon, I walked around…
Startled when a flapping…
Sound came out and flew…
Straight above and then…
Over across the street…
The wingspan was massive…
The hawk was awesome…
To finally what it was…
The rustling in the bushes.

Hope

Out of many…
Only one will…
Stand out…
Hope will…
Come, as many…
Linger, For more…
But Joy will…
Come as fear…
Is erased…
Share those smiles…
As Hope Lingers on.
