A Time of reflection

A Time of reflection
By Pauline Harris

A man stood by
Greeting many
Who held tears
In their hearts
As a friend passed away
Shots in the distance
From those who aim
And want to scare
And state their voice
Silently others scream
Mostly in dismay
For threats had put
Them in the corner
Out of sight
Out of thought
One man continues on
He tells of what he recalls
But the loss is greater
For the quiet mourner
As she heard how little
He valued some rights
While boasting his views
In a life taken long ago
Justified or not, the life is gone
Another said she fought hard
To keep her head held high
While others gathered roses
And photos of days gone by
Humble servitude as guide
Cries in aches we must hide
Choices we bare as we share
Shots bring memories
Distant lives cry in hurts
Mumbled views need reflection
Silently a moment to rest
As life continues each step
Soon the joys return
And the sleepy may rest
But still the rings of shots
Echo, echo in the hearts of all
Whether to boast or reflect
Whose freedom is gained
If a life is taken too soon

Windows to The Soul

Windows Into The Soul
By Pauline Harris

We walk through life
One step or movement
Ever forwards
Onto our joyney
Into new beginnings
And yet mysteries
Follow us wherever
We venture to go

But ultimately
The decision
For our outlook
Is completely
Ours to make

There is beauty
In the wilderness
And in our own
Backyard

Our hearts
Can see what
Wonders
Our soul
Delights in

Finding A Path

In finding our own way:

Each of us has lived lives differently.

Even twins have differences.

Our paths may connect on so many levels,

but our own path is ours alone.

It is wonderful to find others

to connect with along the way.

Those connections make life worth living.

Her Daydream

Her eyes gazed over
To look yonder
Nothing in particular
To see beyond
But a reflection
Of days to ponder
Past gone by
Memories linger
Waves collapsed
In the mind
As she thinks back
Reflections of pathways
Seem to creep by
Similarities in some
Others purely unique
Conquests shared
Trophies long since faded
Connections grew
To complete networks
A force within awakened
Sparking a new revelation
Creating joy for all
Who beaconed nearby
Fostering new life
And new growth
Through collaboration
And enrichment
Via creative
And wonderment
She returned with a smile
To share with those who care

Inviting Hand From Death …

<This poem was written in reference to a photo depicting ‘Death reaching out to a person who was sitting under a tree in a forest area’>

Sitting alone under the great tree
Pondering about life and it’s treated of me
Searching for answers that are not to be
Daydreaming of days past by
Longing for something to clench at
Idealizing my future plans with dreams
Of granduer. Only to be returned to
A lowly feeling with a vision appearing out of no where
Dark shadows tempting and alluring me
Invitingly presents a hand stretched out
Giving me a chance at something different
Here is a gift of the everlasting life, free to take
No more anger or pain, hardships disappeared

Only joy and love remain
Grasp this hand and be set free

Wise Up About Maybe

Why Not Maybe

Choices of either
Yes or No
A different path
Calls to say
Hello, I am nearby
Voices tell partly truths
Giving positive
Only on their view
Agreeing with some aspect
Persuaded not to look further
Combining is the only way
But what about maybe
Maybe seems always left behind
Never given a second thought
Discussed by those with no voices
Left silent
However maybe is used
To give a voice
To artist, writer, actor, teacher, engineer,
Creators of innovation
Seeing visions of a brighter future
For All
Instead of the few
Those few who have it all
And just want the world
Time for Maybe
Is here at hand
Our water, land, and hearts
Are devoted to Maybe
And someday Maybe
Maybe will achieve
What yes could never do

Hope

Starting off in pure darkness
A spark of light began
Seemingly from no where
But to show a way
Out of the night
Beaming with delight
The heart raced
Only to discover
Words to follow
One led this way
Another that
All ending somewhere
Which path to take
Some said they went down here
Others took another one
Meanings changed with words
Growing from seeds
Laid centuries ago
Which way to know
Truth will prosper
Comforting and humbling
Choosing the joyney
Is the only option
For seeking hope
Will rise as the sunsets
