Precious Friend

(inspiration:  a soldier carrying a skull in a misty fog)

Years after the long stretch, bloody battle
Finally having the opportunity to set foot
Upon the hallowed grounds where we
Our tormented souls had taken arms
Our country needed us to fight
We knew not who our enemy
Our country needed us to fight
Glory, honour, courage, bravery…we fought
Our neighbours, our friends, our family
To no ends…we fought on
Our country needed us…we fought
War ended…burials became common place
In the misty, damp foggy morning,
I heard the cries of many
Those who fell…gave their all
Among them, my precious friend…no
NO, I could leave her there
Torn …my precious friend deserved better
Somewhere special…a place sacred to her
Wholly holy ground…dear precious one
Away from these tormented, fighting fields
Lost souls will never recover
Innocence taken in the battle heat
Leaps towards gestures of finding closure
Sorted mistakes leaders made carry on
Truthfully, No one wins a war
Casualties, soldiers, families…all never the same
Misty fog takes ahold covering us
My precious friend and I forever

Forever amongst the poppy fields

Lightning Dancer

Days of storms
Had driven many inside
For safety
Reasonings had failed
To convince her
She continued along
Her adventure
Through the wanderings
Near the lightning poles
She had heard stories
Of amazing talents
To be gained if only
She could withstand
The great light storms
She knew how great
The challenge could be
As her own sister was lost
Or so the story was told to her
Determined, she carried her brallie
Secure in her decision
The lightning will come
As it may come
Dancing to her soul’s song
Moving in exquisite directions
Her spirit led her to this moment
She has become her destiny

Winter’s Coming

A nice comfy chair, a candle
To light the room for reading
Escaping the hustle of ordinary days
Deeper into books, I am drawn
Only time will tell if I
If I make it out alive
Surviving through the winter forested within
Makes the time spent inside adventurous
No more gloomy days, instead find
Me cuddled up reading my books

The Steps To Heaven

Each step a lesson
Either taught, learned, or inspired
All leading along the path
To the destination at the end
No one exempt
All striving to make a mark
Many stuck in a rut
Of their own choices
Plotting to make anew
Instead digging downwards
Others seeking servitude find gratitude
Although some may attempt
In belittling each path
The light shines brightly
On each step to Heaven

Rain Gear At The Ready

Storms are on the horizon
Making their way inland westward approaching
Seemingly each year the winds pick up
Bringing pouring rains and thunderstorms along
Gathering wellies, raincoat, and brally
Readying for the dance in rain
Flooded walkways and streets, treading cautiously
Splitter, splatter…Splish splosh…swish, swash
Splash along the walkway home
Enjoying every minute after hot days
Ready to invite smiles and laughter
Into the very being of now
Let us play splishing and splashing
Enjoying the moments of pure joy

United, At Last

Walking on a path alone
For ever so long
Wanting to share
But no one is there
Isolated
A cry out
But no one listens
Others lost in their own world
Their desires for physical items
Wisdom has guided me beyond
In some respects
I desire to co-create
Co-habit with friends
Making community
A flare for inspiration
Pure wonderment
Finding joy amongst
Those who fear
Caring my life forward
Grateful and blessed
Because I now have you

The Inviting Rain Dance

Days of heat had swarmed Summer
Blistering some to stay cooked inside
Until the glimpse of those vital
Waves of joy began to whisk
The moonlit air bringing momentary lapses
Of brisk cleansing in angelic tears
Freeing everybody from set stagnation allowing
Flowing freedoms to rise in forming
Foundations withstanding notions of uniting movements
Expressions of gratitude light all hearts
