The Raindrop

The Raindrop
By Pauline Harris

Off in the distance
Whispering winds pick up
Blowing dust and particles
Making water vapors appear
Gathering up steam
Pushing ahead
Contributing to the brewing
A storm is on the horizon
Make preparations
Take cover

A single raindrop falls
Reaching the ground
More start to come
A puddle is formed
Ripples appear
One raindrop connecting
To many others
Overlapping ripples
Splashing about playfully

A moment in joy
Doth appeared

Until the rain continued
Falling making floods

A pause in the storm
A much needed breath
Silence awoke deep within
Calmly now, each tasked
To find a way back to hope
With each raindrop bringing
Sparkles of love with light
Carrying forward our hearts
To seeing there is always
A peacefilled way in love

Two Views Become One

This poem is in response to a post of two photos taken by a friend. ..one photo is of a calm lake with clouds over the sun, the other photo is of a lake with ripples in it and the sun is clearly visible.

Two Views Become One
By Pauline Harris

Sitting by the lake
I gaze out to see
What the view is
Clouds wave
Up in the air
With calm waters
Wishing the clouds
To disburse
I close my eyes
And whosh
The wind blows
Opening my eyes
I see the gentle
Waters gone
The clouds swept away
Sun is shining brightly
And ripples
Where calm was
In my waters

And so is life
Until we find
That each moment
Is a blessing
Unto itself
Finding joy
And sharing
To make this world
Better for all
Who dwell here
Together we can

Ripples

Sitting and watching

On the porch

The day drifts by

Specks of water

Drop from the sky

First in sparse drips

Making small puddles

And then ripples

Do appear to form

Making waves

Upon waves

Interlocking

Impacting

Each other

One touching

Another

Letting each join in

Allowing for growth

Developing hope

Refreshing the soul

I am alive

I am well

Come and join me

Living as one

In the ocean

On this earth

One among many

Ripples

All It Takes Is One Raindrop

One Raindrop

A calm breeze began
Picking up speed
Humidity rising
Sweat beginning to form
Feeling warm chills
All up and down
Thoughts of preparing
Momentary lapse
Prioritize this and that
Feeling awkward
As no sign happening is occurring
No clear path
And yet prepare for the worse
And then one raindrop falls
Making haste, second guessing
Thunder in the distance
Another drop forming a puddle
Drips creating ripples
Moments of time
Stand still
If only for a minute
Mesmerized
Thinking the storm has passed
Lightning strikes the tree
Bursting it, shattering it
Fire burning
Engulfing nearby objects
Fear creeps in
Must move on now
Terrified of whats more to come
Grab bags and jump into the car
By Pauline Harris

One Ripple

Long ago, one drop
Came to form
So excited it was
It fell down
All the way to earth
Making waves
Upon waves
Forming
One ripple
Expanding
To impact
More ripples
Exploding
Into a multitude
Of effects
As the one drop
Had made such a
Huge impact
Just by falling
From the clouds
Way up high
Bringing joy abound
To everyone around
By Pauline Harris

Ripples of Life

Teardrops falling
From Heaven
Landing in puddles
Making waves
Bringing the sands
Of time cascading
Into one fulfillment
One moment
Beyond self
Sharing smiles
And hugs
Expressing
We care
Whispering wind
Engulfs in the feeling
Taking it away
Spreading joy
Unbounded
For all to enjoy
By Pauline Harris

2days

2days

the water ripples
clouds form
overhead
a calming feeling
fast approaches
as sea gulls
swoop down
a fish jumps up
not caught yet
baby tadpoles
swim making ripples
rippling water
under the boardwalk
as I walk
over the water

trees masquerading
as signs
say turn back
bridge closed ahead
expect heavy traffic
questioning
where is the heavy traffic
coming from
if bridge up ahead is closed
instead
I walk on
a mission I am on
to capture
that one
one glimpse of
something intrigues me
I look for cars
to make sure I am safe
on I go and
find a place
plenty of trees
and powerlines too
looking up
moss reaching down
rest I must
observe I will

driving around
looking for this
or that
find another
memory
not lost
but found
and shared by another
sharing stories
of long since past
connections
and smiles
a great feeling
made

alas the days
are past
along with
something more
but the
connection
oh yeah, the
connection
is living on strong
gratitude
for the 2days
may they bring
more connections
