The Swimming Pool

The Swimming Pool
By Pauline Harris

Approaching the water
Pause to take off
My slippers and grab my
goggles, ready myself
Walking down the steps
Feeling each tingle
As the tiny ripples
Form bigger waves
Fully inside the pool
I dive into the deep end
Grab the side bar
And begin stretching
Focusing on tummy crunches
Tightening and release
Run in place,
then jumping jacks
Some laps with different strokes
All focusing on strength
Barre moves plies and relives
Stretching full body
Time to float and relax
Walk it out and out I get

Rivers of Tomorrows

Shadows of the past
Drift behind us
Visions of dreams
Cast lures before us
Tempting us to move
Ever forward
Catching our thoughts
Of a brilliant adventure
Our curiosity takes hold
As we step out into the waves
Swimming into the currents
Of all tomorrows
Our joyney begins here
Blessings always
And Happy New Year

Joy to Swim

The crisp water awaits
My toe reaches the top
A ripple begins
Making tiny waves
My whole foot incased
Within the water
At the edge
Both feet engulfed
Stepping in further
Not too fast
Slowly emerging myself
And then I dive deep
Swimming along the bottom
Breathing bubbles
Exploring the depths
Then wiggling my way up
Carefully moving around
Not to disturb others
Each of us exercising
Our own little routines
Getting those core muscles
Strong and healthy
Dive again to the bottom
Like a dolphin
Amazing feeling free
Just me swimming deep
Down under the water
Looking up to see
The ripples and waves
Gliding over me

Waves as painted by Pauline Harris

These waves are part of a painting...I just love the movement they express.
