The Rip Torn Blanket

The Rip Torn Blanket
By Pauline Harris

Years had passed
Since receiving
This blanket

Many places
It had seen
Cries in the dark
Comforting the shivers
Warming the heart

And then
One day

Noticing feathers
Coming out of it
My blanket
Had been torn

I looked at it

I took a moment

Thinking through
All this blanket
Meant to me
And of ways
I could repair it

Finding a needle
Some thread
Mending on the way

This blanket
With me
All these many years
Once torn
Now mended

Ready for many more
Adventures to enjoy

Joy of Letters Combining Into Words

Books are friends…

They can take us

a million different places…

and to no place at all…

We are introduced to

so many new/old times

and characters…

and to those we have known

for a long while…

Books bring about

new ideas, creativity,

and imagination…

and they keep us

grounded in the moment…

Books are full of

great adventures,

some of them can just be

in our own mind.

That Box in the Corner

That Box

Over there in the corner
Sitting all alone, as if placed
In such a way to entice
Beckon one to desire
The very chance to play
Maybe to build a fort
Or to jump inside
And be carried away
Along some adventure
A mystery captain
Commanding the ship
Through high waters
Down mountains
Into the most spectacular valleys
All in the course
Of one play trip
Captivated in that box
The box that someone
Someone just wanted to
Throw away, but somehow
That box became ours
For adventure we could
Only imagine and create
And play on…thank you box

Fluttering Heart

Starting off with just a spark
Fluidly engulfing you to my heart
Each moment living an enriching adventure
Deep within guided by our love
Sensational and sensual uniting us together
Forever in flight growing respectively always

Lightning Dancer

Days of storms
Had driven many inside
For safety
Reasonings had failed
To convince her
She continued along
Her adventure
Through the wanderings
Near the lightning poles
She had heard stories
Of amazing talents
To be gained if only
She could withstand
The great light storms
She knew how great
The challenge could be
As her own sister was lost
Or so the story was told to her
Determined, she carried her brallie
Secure in her decision
The lightning will come
As it may come
Dancing to her soul’s song
Moving in exquisite directions
Her spirit led her to this moment
She has become her destiny

Waves as painted by Pauline Harris

These waves are part of a painting...I just love the movement they express.
