The Something

The Something

By Pauline Harris

Years ago, a movie told a story of a young boy who was grieving. He found a book that took him on an adventure. During this story, the boy discovers he is fighting the “nothing”. The movie was based on the book, ‘The Neverending Story’.

If there is a “nothing”, then there has to be a ‘something’.

Something is essentially love and the connection we all have to one another.

Our relationships including our friendships are examples of the ‘something’ along with our hopes and dreams.

Occasionally someone will allow us to see evidence of the ‘something’. When this occurs, we feel a moment of pure connection and love. A simple hug can provide this gift all wrapped up.

Here is an air hug for anyone who has touched my life in some form or another. Remember Love Forward

Peace Means

Peace means no violence of any kind. Peace respects others and ourselves. Peace encourages diplomatic efforts. Peace listens to the people and abides by the laws both domestically and foreign. By Pauline Harris

Our Time is One Breath

Our time here is short.

Our legacy is how we left

and our love is carried on.

We have a chance to give.

We have a chance to create peace.

We can love or hate, our choice.

We can get along with one another.

We can respect one another.

We have choices to make.

Greed is not a lasting legacy.

Hate hurts everyone.

Denial of self or others leads only to hate.

Love is the only answer

For our legacy to mean something.

Taking time to breathe

Helps everyone in the long run.

One moment.

One breath.

Namaste

I see the light within

And I see the light within all

Even in the darkest of times, light will prevail

Even if it is just a small flicker

Our eternity is guided by our Love and Light we live by

Sharing our Love and Light, we make the world brighter

Closed Captioning

Closed Captioning for all seeing individuals

by Pauline Harris

We know Closed Captioning (CC) is good for those persons who have troubles hearing and those who are deaf, if the CC is done correctly. Correctly means that what is in the CC is what is heard through voice and sound. CC is beneficial to those who can hear, too.

CC helps those individuals who can hear to assist in reading along with hearing. Those who have good hearing sometimes miss a word here and there, too. Or they can misinterpret what is being conveyed. For example, there are many words that sound similar, but they are defined differently. ‘They’re’ is ‘they are’. It sounds like there as the place holder. ‘Two, tew, too, and to’ are all words that sound alike and have different meanings.

If we have CC on all media with sound shown, we would be able to read the CC and know what the word that is being conveyed is.

The same would be true for sounds in the background, we would be told that a chainsaw or the pounding on the piano keys were the sounds.

CC helps those who are learning to read and those with audio difficulties to understand what is being said.

Closed Captioning is good for all seeing individuals.

Joyous New Year

Joyous New Year

By Pauline Harris

(*)

Each year,

We stand still

At the threshold

One we must travel through

But

For a moment

We stand still

Not knowing

The unease to some

The excitement to others

Each on a path

Forward into the future

Nothing goes exactly to plan

The pathway full of pebbles

Waterways carve their route

Drops of water leave ripples

Sandy beaches seen

Birds take flight

Dolphins jump for delight

Turtles swim all through the night

All venturing their own path

Through the threshold

Without a flicker

For the only way forward

Is to continue

On the journey

Set before each of us

Carry on, carry on

With peace and love

In our hearts

For they bring us joy

Onward we live

Forward we adventure

Life carries us

Into the future

The Glass is…

There is the old question about do one has a glass half empty or do one has a glass half full. The answer is to portray whether one is an optimist or a pessimist. However there are two more suggested answers: one being it is all the way full -partially full of the contents and partially full of air; the other answer being is that one has a glass to fill in the first place.

For many moons I would go between the first two answers as they were the most prevalent. Later on, I liked the third answer. And now, I think about being grateful for what we do have.

I am sure the debate will go on. It is ours to decide for ourselves what we believe. By the way, all the answers are correct.

Hugs Go Around

Stop right there,

Have you heard the news…

It is time to…

Smile…

Enjoy your holidays…

Connect with someone…

Take a step towards the future…

and Spread some hugs around

In Memory of…

When age or other

Take the strong

Hands to weaken

We must in our hearts

Remember

The love once given

Is easy to return

Keeping kindness

Alive, always and forever

Happy Solstice 2025

Happy Solstice

The division between

Night and day is

Close at hand

Shadows creep

In and out of

The layers

Light seeps in

Within each crack

Showering blessings

Of Love and Light

Giving us all

Such a delight

In the transparency

Of transition

From night to daylight

Halos around the moon

Give glimpses

Puzzling viewers

Leaving us

With more questions

Than answers given

A threshold

Between layers

Giving us a veil

To uncover

The future

Of indecision

Or we can

choose blessings

Our choice is

Our next move

Through the layers

Cast by the veil

Of indecision

And shadows

We will move

Forward

Towards

Blessings

With each step

Into

Love and Light
