Preparation

The candle sat there
Before me
Standing tall
Waiting
In anticipation
Holding onto
The thought
To be included
Desiring more
Comfort and warmth
My hand brought
The lighted match
To the wick
Creating
A flame
Glowing
The candle
Shown
Brightly
Spreading
Joy around
Inviting
Including
Alluring
The inviting
Colours
Grasp at me
Pulling my gaze
To see
See beyond
Past now
Passionate
Pleasing presence
Guiding me
Deeply
Into the unknown
And yet known
A joyney
Connecting
The candle, the light, me,
And the mystery
Comforting joy
Welcoming presence
Connecting us all
To gaze upon
The candle’s flame.

Ode To ‘The Canterville Ghost’

(Inspiration ‘The Canterville Ghost’ by Oscar Wilde)

There upon opening
The book led me
Deep inside to inquire within
The words seem
To read by themselves
The story set out
Full of mystery, suspense
Innocent and yet worldly

Entranced, I read on
A girl to discover
A long forgotten
Ghostly presence
Would bring her
To a new level
Of understanding

Forgiveness
Trust
Friendship
And Love
Here was this story
Forgotten until
A bonding came forth
To bear fruit
On an unbearan tree
And tears and words
Would soon set
‘The Canteville Ghost’ free.
