Two Hands: the Grasp

The Grasp
Attempting to hold true
Two hands gripping
One knows the truth
The other clinging
On for dear life
The will of both
And beyond
Can tell if
And what is
May be holding
All the answers
Continuing prayers
And so it is…

Purple Floral Waterfall

Taking a long walk

Down by the canal

Across the bridge

Over the farmer’s gate

Through the pastures

Where the cows lay

Anticipating misting rain

I follow the path

Set by purple flowers

Combing their way

Throughout the land

On walkways, through meadows,

Along the slated stone fences

I walk on. Enjoying

Each moment fragrant

And in sunlight. …by Pauline Harris

Rainy Day Joyneys

Scene Note: A Stack of books
sit by the window.
Raining outside with
a beautiful view of
trees and beyond.
 …
Rainy day travels
Exploring joyneys
Within, remembering
Days of youth
Filled with flare
A smile appears
When crystals
Become rainbow – makers
A precious doll
Brings comfort
To one who brought
Joy to so many
The petty quarrels
Sisters have becoming
Full fledged friends
The joyneys we have
Both within and about …by Pauline Harris

A Hidden Garden Door

secrets hidden beyond

a dream for some

but not all

will know

the texture

of the leaves

a couple

smooth

others fuzzy

technically

all shades of

green

worms and mice

nearby

making

their homes

unwanted

desiring beauty

skin deep

finding peace

grateful now

the secret found

Stone-Ruin Window: A View To Feel

Note to those who

See, but not feel

Pictured is

A window

With a view

Of a tree

Stones frame

The seat,

The outlook,

All covered

With moss.

For those tempted

to touch, to feel:

walking

around

the ruins-

feeling

here and there-

checking

the distance

and spaces

around-

stumbling

upon

an opening-

touching

the area-

noticing

the sitting

shelf

covered

in moss-

so cold-

fuzzy-

hands

reach to

acknowledge

a frame-

no glass-

bare-

vacant-

loneliness

sets in-

so cold-

isolated-

so alone… by Pauline Harris

Inviting Blue-Brown Rail

Shades of brown
and of blues.
So intriguing.
Drawing me
closer.
Memorizing
me with the
double heart.
Tempting
to move
beyond the
scope of what
is laying
before my eyes.
Alluring steps
leading
onwards.
Climbing
to the known
destination,
but yet
unknown entities
surround me.
Must travel.
Invited.
To be who.
Myself. Or
this persona,
society dictates.
Even following
all the rules,
a slip can
lead down.
Slopes.
Spiraling.
Until
a hand
reaches out.
Hope
catches me.
Forgiving,
I am
in motion.
Carrying
forward.
Once again,
living. By Pauline Harris

finding a ‘true’ leader

When looking for a leader,
Do we have a set agenda
or list of what we desire
in said leader? Do we look
up what they have done in
the past along with what
they promise for the future?
Do we talk to our friends
and family? Do we change
our views when something
arises from a corner, whether
true or not? Do we investigate
further to see if they are what
we want? Do we listen to those
opposing and those for? Do we
hold them to the standards,
we live our lives by? Do we
ask the questions of what if
and really listen to the answers?
If we answer all these questions
faithfully and truthfully, is there
anyone who really can be
the one answer? Yes, we do
have to choose someone.
But given the current options,
many have lied or taken gain.
How do we trust them? Are
we awake enough to care?
In the near future, we will
all have the opportunity
to point out who we believe
will carry our world forward
and who will care enough
for us to have a world at all.
Hopefully, we will not mess up
and choose the wrong leader.
But even if we do, it was us
who chose to follow them.
